As long as things are happening, I’m trying to drink my way through my low tier tea, to save the good stuff for last. We’re still going to the grocery store weekly, so I’ll probably keep a handle on in. Plus, I’m in no danger of running out of tea, as I have a whole bar cart, but I do drink two cups of (usually) black tea in the morning and lower caffeine tea throughout the day, so it’s good to stock up. Currently, here is the triage system of morning black tea with commentary, operating under the assumption I work through the tea in this order with no additions.
The Meijer-brand spiced chai my sister gave me a handful of bags of because she didn’t like it: Look, I like chai, but this is not true Chai. I would probably pass on this entirely were it not for the current circumstances, meaning that it is holding the line from using up all of my better tea.
Kroger “British Blend”: On the bright side, this will last me 40 days if I use two bags each morning. On the downside, I may be stuck drinking this for 40 days.
Harney and Son’s Paris, Sachets: This is one of my favorite black teas, and when everything calms down and I get settled wherever I get settled next, I will very likely make this my go-to tea. This is a solid morning breakfast tea because it’s good quality but not so good that I feel like I need to ration it.
Teavana loose leaf Earl Grey Creme: This is in a sealed package from the death rattle of Teavana’s brick and mortar sales, so it is still fresh. Honestly,
Harney and Sons loose leaf tea (Earl Grey Supreme, Queen Catherine, Frick Costume Blend, Russian Country, and Lapsang Souchong): These are nice enough that I feel weird about making them my morning tea on a daily basis but not as nice as some of the top shelf stuff that I can justify saving for a rainy day. My plan (pre-plague) was to eventually use these as morning tea, but to reuse the leaves to draw it out.
Republic of Tea, Downton Abby Plum Pudding: This tea is labeled ominously “when it’s gone, it’s gone,” so I’ve been using a single bag on a special occasion. I will eventually have to drink it or it will go to waste, but I was hoping to stretch it out.
Churchill’s Fine teas (Creme Brulee, Lemon Drops, Cupcake Celebration, Valentine Blend, Pumpkin Spice): If I resort to drink my best tea on a daily basis, the world is ending.
